Toronto Summer Music
As the Toronto Summer Music Festival enters its fourth season, I am proud to announce a dynamic series of thirteen concerts, inspired by the theme ETERNAL STARS. Thirteen sparkling reasons to be in the city from July 21st to August 13th!
The music of the great composers, travelling through expanses of time and space like light from the eternal stars, reaches us undiminished with diamond-like clarity and brilliance. Amongst those our Festival celebrates are three composers who have anniversaries this year: Haydn, Mendelssohn and Martinu. Several festival concerts are programmed around some of the most significant chamber works of these musical innovators. In this constellation of glittering stars, the string quartet shines brightly, as is fitting in a celebration of its creator, Haydn.
Performing the music of these luminaries is a brilliant array of internationally acclaimed artists from around the world. Selected not only for the high calibre of their musicianship but also for their deep understanding of the language of chamber music, they create an intimate and inspiring conversation amongst friends.
Four weeks of chamber music are crowned with a dazzling concert of operatic highlights, performed will full orchestra.
Music like this has the power to speak directly to the spirit. It is my wish that you experience the excitement and passion of these concerts in the company of our growing Toronto Summer Music family of friends.
